Paying another card today

March 8th, 2007 at 03:55 pm

I got an email last night saying Card 11 has a payment due on 3/31/07 with a minimum of $61. The interest charge on this card was $33 so I've decided since I have a little elbow room to make a payment of $100 on this card. Since I believe it will be my next card to pay off after Card 9 a little extra past the minimum isn't a bad thing! So here we go:

Balance: $358
Card 11: $100
Remains: $258

So we have $258 in reserves from this paycheck for now. This gives me room to knock out a few more minimum payments if they show up before the next payday too. Yay!

Oh and the B/T to Chase went through today and posted to the account. There was a $75 transaction fee for the transfer (grr) but that's 4k that now lives at 5.82 APR for life. Which is good because I can push it to the back of the pack and get the cards from my credit report paid down (1, 2, 9 and 11.)

A LOT of those cards were used to pay for landscaping and upgrades in our house (we built a new house in January of 2006...put about $30k in landscaping and $25k in kitchen and housing upgrades we didn't want to write into the mortgage during the building process.) I would say the other $25k went to furnishing the house and daily non-essentials over a period of about 2-3 years that we just let get out of control (vacations...one in St. John for about $5k for the wife's 40th bday.) We just never stopped using them until now. It got way too comfortable and I'm trying to change that mindset.

thanks v we're hoping to see results now that we've all agreed to STOP using the cards!

It really sounds like you are on the right track. Good work. I'm trying to get my bills paid off too. BTW, how was St. Johns? We are considering vacationing there this summer. Have any tips?

Hi little! I would highly recommend St. John. We rented a villa of our own so we would have all the privacy and wow did we have privacy. We stayed at the villa called Mooncottage (if you google it you'll get the website) and rented a Jeep Liberty from Varlack (they were fine.) We actually booked it through Island Hideaways and we had a good car and amazing views. We were there a full week and highly recommend the island. It's a lot more private than Thomas or Croix but you can ferry back and forth if you want to. We found plenty to do on St. John because there are a lot of little beaches you can visit and there are usually no more than 15-20 people on each one. It was really fun!
