Finally over $90,000 in cc debt paid off in less than one year!

April 15th, 2009 at 01:44 pm

It's official...we're finally over the $90,000 paid level in our scramble to get rid of all of our non-mortgage debt asap.

Today is payday and we were able to throw an additional $3100+ at the last credit card. So here's the update:

Debt Tracker (04/15/09)
Card 1: $26204.24 (8.99)

Since April 30th, 2008 we've paid off $90,728.50 in credit card debt! It's the only debt we have/had other than our mortgage so the sooner we get to zero the better!

Just wanted to celebrate a little bit with everyone. Woo hoo!

Thanks everyone!! Yep Broken it's hard to believe looking at where we were to where we've come in just 11.5 months. This blog serves as a reminder (if you go back through my old blog posts you can sort of follow it. I totaled up that we've spent about $6600 in additional interest since we really started getting serious about killing this mess in April 2008) of where we were and now where we are. I'm just so excited at how far we've come. Smile

Still, how in the world did you manage to pay off $90k in one year? It's astounding! I wish I could do that. Congrats again!

We have a dual income so that helps! We basically paid $90k on debt, $36k on mortgage & escrow, $10k on day-2-day expenses like groceries and entertainment (all in cash) and $39k on everything else (utilities, kids sports stuff, etc.) The incredible thing is that based on our numbers we could actually afford to live on one income if we didn't have all of this debt. Not that we want to with an 18 yo on her way to college and a 15 year old right behind but it's possible.
